The Quitline is here to help you be successful in your quit journey! Our free tobacco cessation program is based on proven strategies that have helped more than 1.5 million people quit tobacco. Choose the Hawai‘i Tobacco Quitline Program that Works for you

The Quitline offers 3 programs. Choose the best program for you based on your communication style and the level of support you’re seeking.

1) Phone + Online
Research shows people who use Quitline phone coaching services are more likely to quit than people who choose online-only options or try to quit on their own. Our Phone + Online program provides the highest level of support:
  • Coaching over the phone
  • Technology-based coaching support including email, text, and chat
  • Educational materials (by email or mail)
  • Quit planning materials (by email or mail)
  • Quit progress tracking
  • Access to an online community through our website
2) Phone Only
Our Phone Only program includes:
  • Coaching over the phone
  • Technology-based coaching support including email, text, and chat

3) Online Only
In our Online Only program, you receive access to tools and resources through our website:

In addition the Hawai’i Tobacco Quitline offers specialized programs based on your unique quitting needs and preferences.

NRT Starter Kit

Kick start your quit attempt by signing up for just a two-week package of nicotine patches, gum, or lozenges mailed to your door. You may be eligible for additional NRT through the phone program. Must meet medical eligibility.

Text

Receive text messages to boost motivation, inspire quitting, countdown-to-quit, and track NRT shipments. These messages can help keep you on track with quitting. Plus, get appointment reminders when combined with phone coaching.

Email

Get email messages with tips and to boost motivation for quitting and track NRT shipments. Plus, get appointment reminders when combined with phone coaching.

The Quitline also offers specialized support to meet the unique needs of specific groups.

Additional special programs

Youth
The Quitline has a special program for people under age 18 with specially trained coaches who understand the needs of youth. Coaching is available by phone, by online chat, or by text at 36072. Go to My Life, My Quit to learn more or enroll here.

Young Adults
Young people ages 18-24 have additional options with the Quitline. After enrolling, you can talk to a Coach by phone, using the online chat on the website, or by texting 36072.

People with Behavioral Health Conditions
Some people with behavioral health conditions want more support with quitting. By enrolling in the behavioral health support program, you can get up to 7 coaching calls with longer term help to stay quit. When you talk to a coach on the phone, you can sign up for this program.

Planning to Become Pregnant
If you are age 18 or older and planning to become pregnant, you want what’s best for the health of your baby and yourself. Those who enroll receive up to 5 coaching calls with the same specialized female coach.

Pregnant and Postpartum
The Pregnancy and Postpartum Program is a phone coaching program designed to help you quit while you are pregnant and offer support after you deliver your baby. You can work with the same coach for all calls and get special text messages to support quitting. You’ll also receive gift card incentives for each call completed to keep you motivated throughout your quit journey.

  1. Select the Quitline program that works best for you. Choose Phone + Online, Phone Only, or Online Only.
  2. Develop a quit plan. We’ll help you develop an individual quit plan that is right for you. Your quit plan will include details such as the date you commit to quit, who you’ll tell, and a list of tobacco triggers and how you’ll overcome them.
  3. If you want to use quit medications, we’ll help you select and order them. A quit medication can double or triple your chances of quitting for good. We offer nicotine patches, gums, lozenges, and other options.
  4. Follow your quit plan. As you do this, we’ll give you guidance and support for overcoming challenges, managing stress, handling slips, and rewarding yourself at milestones.
  5. If you select a plan that includes coaching, be sure to respond to your quit coach when they check in. Reach out to your coach whenever you need extra support. Coaches are available 7 days a week.
